Position Summary
White Pass Railroad is seeking a Trainmaster to manage its daily terminal operations. WPY sustains a high tempo of operations from May through September moving nearly 700,000 passengers with 2,000 train starts. The operating department consists of 30 engineers and conductors, and three traffic controllers. The Trainmaster schedules crews, plans and supervises their daily activities, and oversees adherence to rules, regulations, and overall safety.
WPY is a civil engineering landmark running through mountain territory in Alaska, British Columbia, and Yukon Territory with a record of innovation and strong investment in safety and modernization all in keeping with being one of the world’s largest shore excursions.
WPY is regulated by both USA and Canada. Competitive package and benefits including Railroad Retirement Board service credits. Position based in Skagway, Alaska, USA, with the ability to work remotely four months a year.
